Southwest Montessori Academy (SMA) is a nonprofit, nonpublic school serving 40 students ages 3-6 (Pre-K through K). SMA holds full accreditation from the American Montessori Society.

SMA envisions a world where children are fulfilled, grow to find their purpose and contribute to the global community. Our mission is to nurture and inspire the love of learning as each child prepares for life. With children, families, and an inclusive community at our core, we live these values:

SMA plays an important role in the development of young children. Students learn in multi-age classrooms using hands-on materials at a pace that allows for mastery of concepts and skills, including practical, everyday living skills that foster independence. During these important developmental years, students are given a strong foundation for respect, responsibility, work and community. Each of these skills are fundamental to creating responsible adults who care about others and know that they have an active role to play in our world.

The core belief of the Montessori philosophy is that children are naturally curious and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared environment. At SMA, we establish a community where children use critical thinking skills and work together to creatively solve classroom problems as they grow into the confident leaders who will lead our greater community tomorrow.
