Event Description:

As retirements outpace recruitment, what are we doing to solve labor shortages in Allen County?

Join us for the next Allen County Leaders Luncheon on "Growing Our Talent Pipeline" to learn how three local initiatives are strategically filling the gap between classroom and career to meet the workforce needs of our future.

Meet our Panelists:
  • Adam Welch, Director of Economic Development, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. - GFW Inc. facilitates the MadeByMe Coalition, a group of leaders from the business, education, and economic development sectors united to cultivate the next generation of our skilled-trades workforce. This group works to spotlight opportunities in diverse career fields, connect educators with externships to share firsthand knowledge with students, and shape our future to build business for the long haul.
  • Riley Johnson, Director, Amp Lab at Electric Works - Fort Wayne Community Schools' immersive half-day program for high school juniors and seniors to explore their passions, apply their talents, and make our community a better place. At Amp Lab, students develop skills in a project-based learning environment focused on urban agriculture, digital music and audio production, computer graphics and animation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Nick Gray, Vice President of Strategic Partnership & Workforce Development, Jim Kelley Career Pathway Center - In partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, this facility opened on the southeast side of town in August 2022 offering learning labs focused on automotive, manufacturing, construction, supply chain management, and IT/CAD/CAM. The center also provides teens with soft skills training, resume writing, and interview skills for a successful integration into the workforce and sustainable, fulfilling career.
