Born over 450 years ago, Shakespeare has inspired music by Verdi to the Beatles and Barenaked Ladies. Three Shakespearean works are represented here in vastly different guises. The program’s centerpiece is Mendelssohn’s sparkling A Midsummer Night’s Dream, complete with actors reading from the Bard’s comedy.
